A spaceship was launched
When I was 6,
Carrying all enthusiasm
Life had to offer;
Astronaut in me
Was awake and alive
With a thrill that
I’ll make it to space;
All the big names I read,
Inspired and awed
Hoping to be like them
Heroic and brave.
When I was 16,
The astronaut in me
Was long forgotten;
Juggling between
School and life
The teenage me
Had stopped exploring.
Older I grew
I was left with none;
No enthusiasm of childhood
No dreams of an astronaut
Through the race
Held by none
I seemed to not stop.
Now I’m 26,
Hustling and hungry
To find my space
To find my ship;
I woke up one day
Middle of the night
To a twinkling sky
To stars and Milky Way
The kid in me was thrilled again
